Good morning! Isn't it a great day?!
one:: In keeping up with bizness, I'd like to draw your attention to a few things that are going on around Blue Collar Catwalk. Enter sub-lists:
a. If you haven't already, I'm encouraging you all to set an exercise goal for the new year and share it with the Blue Collar Catwalk community! I'm hoping that together, we can stay motivated, talk about the challenges and rewards of regular exercise and oooh and aaaah at how adorable we look in our workout gear. Check out the full post here.
b. I found myself unexpectedly dropping a little dough in Ann Taylor Loft this weekend. While I love my new purchases, I really needed to clean out some of the items that are just weighing me down. With that in mind (and a heavy dose of post-splurge guilt to boot), I came home and started posting a huge lot of unwanted/unworn pretties on smashion.com. If you have never used smashion, it is awesome. It was so easy to post things, it's free to use and even easier to shop. Check out my store here. You definitely want to take a look, because I'm selling some items that have been blog favorites. (Smashion.com is a lovely sponsor of BCC; however, they have not asked that I start my own store or write this. This is on my own freewill and based on my own experience with the site.)
c. In the spirit of creating more of a community here on Blue Collar Catwalk, I am introducing a new feature. Yesterday, I announced the birth of Blue Collar Collective and asked for your help to make it happen. You can read more about it here, but basically, I'm looking to feature you. Send me photos of yourself wearing an outfit that comes in at under $100 (including shoes, excluding jewelry). I think this is a great way to really showcase the power of personal style, regardless of budget.
two:: In other news, I have been a total blogger slacker this weekend. Which means I have no daily outfit to show you today. Be sure to check back, though, because I still have awesomeness in store. And by awesomeness, I mean a rather ridiculous photo of myself that will surely make you giggle.
three:: After a nearly 4-year hiatus, John and I have finally gotten around to watching the last season of The Sopranos. We're three episodes in and it's a bit interesting to say the least. I know a lot of folks were less than satisfied with the last season, so I'm looking forward to finding out for myself. I still can't believe it has taken us this long to get to it!
four:: Last week, I mentioned that John and I were making a resolution to have one night a week where we refrain from all electronic communication and entertainment. I thought it was going to be Tuesdays, but it is actually going to be happening on Wednesdays. Much to John's shigrin, I've dubbed it "Wednesday Nights Unplugged." I have to say, it was harder to watch TV than to not use my computer. I hadn't realized how acustomed I had become to just coming home and completely decompressing with television. It was a long day, and I had a hard time making myself focus on other things, but it was a really, really good thing to do. We made dinner, read books, sat and just talked and then played a mean game of Boggle. Can't wait for this week!
five:: Last Monday, I joined a gym and started taking a spinning class at 6am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is truly an ungodly hour to get up and out the door (not to mention cold and still quite dark), but ... I. Am. LOVING it. I'm loving the variety of going to workout with a class, knowing that I'm going to get a fierce hour of sweating. And there's something contagious about the initiative and spirit of the people who are at the gym that early. It's so awesome to be able to come home shortly after 7am, knowing I've gotten a great workout in and then, just enjoying my breakfast and coffee while I dive into the day's work. It's made me so much more focussed and productive, and I'm already popping out of bed at 5:30am with no problem.
Whew! Now, that was some rambling! If you read that, you deserve a cookie.
