8/30: my girl mcgraw

I've had this photo of Ali McGraw on my inspiration board for months.  I just love this sleek 70's look and couldn't wait to try to recreate it.  Back in December, I came across the perfect piece to complete the look: a pair of vintage tweed cullottes.

Cullottes definitely aren't so cute, but man, they made awesome shorts.  I nearly died over the high waist and flat front.  Exactly what I had been looking for all this time!  They sat in my "to mend" pile since then, so I added them to the 30 for 30 as a way to ensure that I would alter them before winter's end.  They were a piece of cake to hem and they came out perfectly!

Combined with a middle part, slim turtleneck, camel blazer and high boots, it's nearly a dead ringer for my inspiration photo!  Granted, I'm no Ali McGraw ... but a girl can dream.
