It's that time of year again ... already ... back to school! When I was a kid, planning the first day of school outfit was a pretty big deal! All through elementary school, it pretty much consisted of one basic equation: new dress + jacket or cardigan + new school bag + sandals = first day perfection. This particular photo is from my first day of 3rd or 4th grade. I'm pretty sure that the dress and jacket were hand-me-downs from my older cousin, which I thought was SO COOL and if I remember correctly, that swanky bag zipped into a frisbee. No joke. And if you were wondering, yes ... I cut my own bangs that summer. I still do that, but with much better results.
When JCPenney asked me to participate in their back to school fun, I decided to go back to what was tried and true: new dress, new shoes, new bag.
This dress is the comfiest knit, and when it's paired with a knit jacket, it's like I never even changed out of my PJ's. I think it's safe to say that this color combo it slightly more grown up than my 1980's version, and there's definitely something to be said for professionally cut tresses! I love that this purse mimics the design of an old-school barrel bag. That's what drew me to it in the first place! I'd love to find a shoulder strap for it! And these new shoes, found at the Aerosoles store in NYC, are so comfy and walkable that even I'm willing to forgo the flats for a day here and there.
