You know I'm a sucker for mixing prints. I just can't help myself ... I'm an animal ... *ahem*
So, when I caught wind (at the last minute, of course - story of my life) that today was print mixing day on Everybody Everywear, it made me kind of giddy. Today's mix is much more subtle than usual, but it's there. And it works. A little vintage tribal print, a touch of snakeskin and that green print clutch that I just can't seem to put down.
I was given this vintage skirt yesterday in exchange for helping my friend and local vintage shop owner with some social media stuff. I've been ogling it in her shop all season and can't believe no one else snatched is up! Best she could tell, it's from the 50's, and let me tell you, I am using every single milimeter of this little waistband. This skirt makes a pretty good argument that the elastic waistband it to blame for the obesity epidemic in America, because there is ZERO room for over-indulging in this baby. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is I breath a bit too deep, the two mighty buttons holding it closed will launch themselves into the next county. So sure, in fact, that I put a back-up safety pin in the inside of the skirt - my dirty little not-so-secret. Truthfully, though, after a few too many goodies over the weekend, a portion-controlling skirt is just what I needed! And that pretty little print makes every shallow breath completely worth it.
Be sure to check back later this week to see how I styled it up for after hours!
