soap hope

Quite some time ago (really, I'm embarrassed to say how long it has taken me to get to this post), the ladies at Soap Hope sent over a box of samples from their online store of all natural beauty and cleaning products.   Upon receiving the package, I knew that if the contents of the box worked as well as they smelled, I was going to be a happy camper!

Now, one thing you must know - Soap Hope is not just any old online shop.  Their mission far exceeds that of most retailers.  Not only are the products kind to your body, health, home and environment, their profit goes right back into helping better the lives of women in need.

I was pleased to see that the shipping box they sent was constructed from reused cardboard boxes.  And like I said before, it smelled amazing.  It containing a couple of bar soaps, some laundry detergent (which I'm dying to try, since I'm super sensitive to anything with dyes and perfumes and hate using anything with eco-harming chemicals) and a couple samples of their mineral makeup.  Of course, the first thing I tried was the makeup.  Again, it smells so fresh and clean and it went on like a dream.  I'm actually going to head over to their site a pick up some more of the mineral foundation and blush/eyecolors.  And let me assure you - I'm kind of a snob when it comes to cosmetics.  It can't smell funny and it has to go on easily and vibrantly - and LAST!

Since the products are only half of the business at Soap Hope, I'd love to share the rest of their mission with you.  They've explained it best in their own words...

Helping Women Everywhere. We believe that every woman in the world who wants an opportunity to support herself and her family should have that opportunity. That's why we created the GOOD RETURNS business model on which Soap Hope was founded. It's simple: every dollar of profit earned by a Good Returns company goes first to an institution that uses it to solve world problems. After those profits have spent a year in service, the money is returned to Soap Hope. It's like the Peace Corps for money: we volunteer every dollar for a year of service.

Heart and Mind. Soap Hope is a for-profit company with a non-profit mission. We designed the Good Returns model on purpose to combine the best of the business and non-profit worlds. Soap Hope runs with the efficiency and power of a business - then uses the profits with the heart of a nonprofit.

Women! Women are the key to ending poverty. Women save more, invest more, and are more likely to use their earnings to educate their children and break the cycle of poverty. Soap Hope creates a wonderful connection between successful women and developing women: successful women buy our products, and developing women use our programs to lift themselves from poverty.

A Movement For Good. Our goal is to be a model company that thousands of others will emulate. It will only take fifty companies in twenty cities across America to create one billion dollars for women worldwide. We started Soap Hope with a simple idea: provide healthful, wholesome, top-of-the-line products to customers - then use all the profits to help women in need at home and around the world.

Shopping is great, but shopping with purpose and positive impact is even better!  As we are all trying to be more educated and responsible comsumers, companies like Soap Hope are providing the perfect alternatives.  So, go check them out!

Soap Hope sent me samples of their products to try and kindly asked they I review the items.
