the honeymooners

A couple scrapbook pages from our honeymoon.

I'm totally not the kind of girl that leaves home for a few days and misses her husband.  It has nothing to do with how much I love him (because I do!), I'm just easily distracted and genuinely enjoy time to myself, exploring my own hobbies and interests.

But when I was in Austin, I really did wish John was there with me.  Part of why I love that city so darn much is because that's where John and I honeymooned nearly eight years ago.  As a matter of fact, at the time we were thinking about moving there.  Incidentally, two out of the three times that I've been to Austin, I've experience unseasonable weather.  Last weekend was cold and rainy, and our honeymoon?  Well, it rained nine inches in the three days that we were there.  That was more rain in three days than they had gotten all year up until that point!  I do believe it was the year of all the flooding across Texas.  If I had to hear one more person say "It's good luck to have rain around your nuptials," I was going to scream.  They never tell people with beautiful wedding weather that they're headed for divorce!

Anyway ... I digress ...

Despite the weather, we both fell head over heels in love with the city and would have moved there in a heartbeat.  And then, reality hit.  We had no money and a piece of crap car.  Just like all things in life, everything happens for a reason.  Our life in Happy Valley is pretty great.  We're close to family, own a house, a dog, a business and a new(er) car.  Life is good.  And I can't imagine living it anywhere else.

Well, except Austin.  Hey, there's always retirement!
