my favorite things

I may have worn this outfit twice in the last three days.  No judging.  When you've got something you love, you just have to obsess, right?  I wore it to visit my parents Saturday night.  My mom did all the costumes for a community play (and then had a super sneaky cameo of her own!), and I was to glad I got to see the production.  I'm so proud of her hard work and never tire of seeing the arts prosper in small communities.

At first, I wasn't sure about the shapes on my short and curvy frame, but I felt great in it.  Who am I to deny my sartorial spirit?  Strangely enough, I think it was the addition of the old buttoned jean jacket that added just enough shape to make it work ... which bringe me to one of my favorite things ...

I've waxed poetic about this jean jacket in past - like 3 years ago in the past! - and it's still going strong as one of the workhorses of my wardrobe.  As I wore it to my parents this past weekend, I was thinking about how old it is and realized that it's probably older than I am!  It amazes me that I've worn it so much, and it's still in great shape.  When I put it on the other day, John noticed some stitching coming out in the back of the armhole.  I ripped it off immediately and marched straight to my sewing machine.  In less than five minutes, it was good as new!

And while we're on the topic of my favorite things, can we just take a moment to talk about how completely adorable my dog is?  Lest you think he is posing for the camera, I can guarantee he is not.  There was a person or another dog placed just right behind my tripod that his little mug was caught perfectly in these shots.  He's just been stealing my heart lately, like waking me up this morning with the most energetic, happy puppy kisses.  Gross, but oh, so sweet!
